Sunday, June 14 is Flag Day. Flag Moment 's been around since the 1880s nonetheless it had not been until 1949 that President Truman declared June 14th to get the official moment of commemoration and special event.

The Superstars and Stripes was officially adopted as our countrywide banner by Congress in 1777.

When I was a boy I served on the institution Safety Patrol. We wore reddish colored jackets with light Sam Browne belts and dazzling yellowish garrison caps trimmed in blue. We'd badges that signified rank. Later in the pursuits of safety we exchanged our smart seeking caps for light plastic helmets.

It was student function and there is usually a mature boy in control as the captain.

We manned the crosswalks and helped our fellow pupils reach school safely.

Nowadays it appears safety in institutions is governed by armed cops and steel detectors.

We had to access school early and keep a little later directly after we completed our duties.

And among those duties was raising the flag each morning and decreasing and folding it properly towards the end of the institution day.

We was reminded of the recently when We passed by a university and watched as a janitor lowered the flag and stuffed it in a field with no considered to the callous way he was treating Classic Glory.

But I assume I shouldn’t come to be surprised given how patriotism and take pleasure in of country are actually seen as old fashioned rather than in stage with the times.

Rather than learning respect for the flag and understanding how to look after it, young people are actually posting pictures of themselves along social media sitting on the flag and uttering most anti-American cattle crap without doubt learned from their Baby Boomer teachers who perfected flag losing through the Vietnam War.

When I consider the flag I am reminded of the six men who attached the flag to amount of pipe and raised it above Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima in 1945.

The raising of this flag drew shouts and cheers from the sailors and Marines and blasts from the horns of the ships anchored offshore. Even though the battle would previous for weeks it provided confidence that success would come.

When I consider the flag I recall July 20, 1969 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin planted her in the moon.

When he stepped onto the lunar surface Astronaut Armstrong said, “One compact step for man. One huge leap for mankind”. He didn’t case the moon for America but also for the whole world.

When I consider the flag and view it firmly secured to the coffin of a U.S serviceman or perhaps girl who gave their previous full way of measuring devotion compared to that flag We wonder if anybody beyond your person’s family, good friends and community possibly cares or are actually they too busy with the petty and trivial community of pop customs and celebrity.

And when I consider the flag outside my home I am reminded that I am a citizen of the best country on the planet warts and all and that no one can tell me personally to have it down-at least not with out a fight!
